Inspired by the ancient Indian festival of Diwali, or Deepavali, our Dunedin Diwali event celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the renewal of life. This cherished tradition, known as the “Festival of Lights,” is celebrated throughout India and by Indian communities worldwide.

A dazzling array of renowned cultural groups will take to the stage, including the RASA School of Dance, Beats of South Chenda Melam, MayaDhara International Indian Dance School, Ragalayam Mini School of Carnatic Music, Kids Waiata group, Naatya Indian Dance School, Garba by Indian Student Association, Indian folk dances by various artists, Kazbah belly dancing group, Mudra’s kids dance group and Tom and Jerry Bollywood dance by Dunedin Malayali group and Bhangra by the Punjabi Group.
